The initial affair regarding the misguided one–Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

”The initial affair with regards to the misguidance of the misguided one is that he gave precedence to his juristic reasoning over the texts from Allaah and precedence to his desires over following the commands of Allaah.”

The verdict of the people of the narrations against ahlul kalaam–Ibn Abdul Barr

Al-Haafidh Ibn Abdul Barr (rahimahullaah) said:

”The people upon the correct understanding of the religion and those who cling to the (authentic) narrations of the [Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and that of the pious predecessors] in all the regions are agreed that the people of philosophical rhetoric are people of bidah and deviation.  (All the scholars) do not consider them to be from those who have been given sound understanding in the religion; rather the scholars are those who hold onto the (authentic) narrations of the [Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and that of the pious predecessors] and they have been given sound understanding in that.”

Do not sit with ahlul kalaam–Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah)

Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) said:

”Do not sit with ahlul kalaam (the people of philosophical rhetoric) even if they defend the Sunnah.”

I am not a person of philosophical rhetoric–Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah)

Imaam Ahmad (rahimahullaah) said:

”I am neither a person of philosophical rhetoric nor do I recognize philosophical rhetoric in anything. (I only recognize) that which is found in the Book of Allaah or in the Sunnah of His Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam).”

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi on Yusuf Al-Qaradaawi

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadee Al-Waadi-ee (rahimahullaah) said:

Some of the Hizbiyyoon (illegal partisans) will say: ”A scholar amongst the scholars and you call him a barking dog! This is great O Abaa AbdirRahmaan! A scholar amongst the scholars! The Mufti of Qatar!”

Listen to Allaah’s statement:

And recite (O Muhammad) to them the story of him to whom We gave Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.), but he threw them away, so Shaitan (Satan) followed him up, and he became of those who went astray.  And had We willed, We would surely have elevated him therewith but he clung to the earth and followed his own vain desire. So his description is the description of a dog: if you drive him away, he lolls his tongue out, or if you leave him alone, he (still) lolls his tongue out. Such is the description of the people who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). So relate the stories, perhaps they may reflect.  Evil is the likeness of the people who reject Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses and signs, etc.), and used to wrong their ownselves.” [Soorah A’raaf: Ayaat:175-177]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

”The likeness of those who were entrusted with the (obligation of the) Taurat (Torah) (i.e. to obey its commandments and to practise its legal laws), but who subsequently failed in those (obligations), is as the likeness of a donkey who carries huge burdens of books (but understands nothing from them).” [Soorah Al-Juma-ah: Ayah 5]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

 إِنَّ شَرَّ ٱلدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلصُّمُّ ٱلۡبُكۡمُ ٱلَّذِينَ لَا يَعۡقِلُونَ

”Verily! The worst of (moving) living creatures with Allah are the deaf and the dumb, those who understand not.” [Soorah Anfaal: Ayah:22]

Allaah (The Most High) said:

وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اللّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْرًا لَّأسْمَعَهُمْ وَلَوْ أَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَ

”Had Allah known of any good in them, He would indeed have made them listen, and even if He had made them listen, they would but have turned away, averse (to the truth).”

So I say: Abdullaah Bin Sabah Al-Yahoodee-the one who came from San’a and arrived in Madeenah–manifested asceticism, fear of Allaah, worship and other than that in Islaam. (He manifested) enjoining good and forbidding evil, and thereafter he disseminated trials and became the cause of much trial. Therefore, the Sunni must be recognized as opposed to the hizbiy (illegal partisan).  And I do not say that he (Al-Qaradaawee) is a Christian or a Jew; rather (we have been) asked (about him), for indeed his falsehoods which he makes to resemble the truth are dangerous.

Do not say that they have been given eloquence to aid the truth-Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah)

It is obligatory to be cautious of those ones who make false affairs fair seeming to the people by way of adorned speech—be it in affairs of Aqeedah, Manners or Manhaj. Their statements and actions are to be presented to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of Allaah’s Messenger (for examination); so whatever affair they oppose (in the Book and the Sunnah, then their views and actions are regarded to be) falsehood, regardless of what it may be, and one is not to be deceived by what is contained in it of adorned speech, because as the saying goes: ”Adorned speech is an erroneous proof, such as a glass that is truly broken and every broken (glass) is shattered.” And do not say that those people have been given eloquence and the ability to speak clearly in order to aid the truth, for indeed Allaah (The Most High) may put people to the test, so a person may be given eloquence and the ability to speak clearly even though he is upon falsehood, just as Allaah will put the people to trial by way of the Dajjaal, whilst-without a doubt—the Dajjaal is upon falsehood. [Slightly Paraphrased] [1]

What should I do? I did not complete the Final Tasha-hud…[Imaam Bin Baaz]

Question:

It is well known that the Final Tasha-hud is a pillar from the pillars of prayer; and in one of the prayers I did not complete except a little bit of the Tasha-hud, so should I repeat my prayer?

Answer:

It is upon you to complete the Tasha-hud, even if you missed some (of it whilst praying with) your Imaam (i.e. the one leading you in Salaah); because according to the most correct saying (or view) of the scholars the Final Tasha-hud is a pillar (of the prayer), and there is the Salutation upon the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) in it. Therefore, it is obligatory to complete it even after the Imaam’s Salaam (i.e. after he finishes the prayer). And from it (i.e. the Tasha-hud) is seeking Allaah’s protection from the Hell fire, the punishment of the grave and from the trials of life and death, and from the trial of the Dajjaaj; because the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) commanded with seeking (Allaah’s) protection from these four (things) in the Final Tasha-hud, and that is because some of the people of knowledge consider that to be an obligation.

The Salaf were humble—Beware of snobbish behaviour due to the little you know!

Imaam Fudayl Ibn Iyaad (rahimahullaah) was asked about humility; so he said: ”(It is ) to humble oneself to the truth, submitting to it and accepting it from the one who said it. He accepts it even if he heard it from a child or from the most ignorant amongst the people.” [Madaarij As-Saalikeen 2/342]

Muhammad Ibn Waasi (rahimahullaah) said: ”If sins were a breeze, no one will sit with me.” [Siyar 6/120]

Khalaf Ibn Tameem (rahimahullaah) said: I saw Ath-Thawree at Makkah and many (people gathered or came to) him; so he said: ”To Allaah we belong! I fear that the Ummah will be lost when the people have a need of the likes of me.” [Siyar 7/275]

A man said to Maymoon Ibn Mehraan (rahimahullaah): ”The people will not cease to be upon good as long as Allaah keeps you (alive) for them;” so he said: ”keep yourself to your own affairs; the people will not cease to be upon good as long as they fear their Lord.” [Siyar 5/75]

A man said to Ibn Umar (radiyallaahu-anhu): ”O (you) the best of the people!” So he said: ”I am neither the best of the people nor the son of the best of the people; rather I am a slave from the slaves of Allaah. I have hope in Allaah and I fear Him.  By Allaah you (people) will not leave a man until you destroy him.” [Siyar 3/236]

Whenever Sufyaan Ath-Thawree (rahimahullaah) was informed that he was seen in a dream, he said: ”I know myself better than those who see dreams.” [7/252]
