The Blessings of Safety, Health and Provision, So Let Us Be Grateful O Slaves of Allaah!

Ubaidullaah Ibn Mihsan Al-Khatmiy narrated from his father that the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: “Whoever among you wakes up (in the morning) safe in his property, healthy in his body and has his daily nourishment, it is as if he has been granted the entire world.

The Strength of Abstinence from Evil and the Strength of Courage’ by Imaam Ibnul Qayyim

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

There are two (types) of strengths within the soul: The strength of abstinence and the strength of courage. The reality of patience is that one makes the strength of courageousness a means of action in what benefits him and the strength of abstinence a means of action in refraining from what is harmful to him.

Among the people, there is one whose patience in carrying out what benefits him and being firm upon it is stronger than his patience in refraining from what is harmful to him; so he exercises patience in facing difficulty whilst carrying out acts of obedience, but he does not exercise patience in refraining from urges towards what he is forbidden.

And among them, there is one whose patience in refraining from things that are in opposition to the religion is stronger than his patience in carrying out acts of obedience and among them there is one who does not exercise patience in both affairs. The best of people are those who fulfil both affairs.

Many people patiently bear the hardship of praying Tahajjud during hot and cold nights, and the difficulty in fasting; but they do not exercise patience in refraining from looking at forbidden things. Many people exercise patience in refraining from looking at the forbidden things and inclination towards images, but they do not exercise patience in commanding good and forbidding evil….

Boastful about himself, his personality, his significance and in speech!

Allaah (The Most High) said in Soorah Luqmaan Ayah: 18

[وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ  –And turn not your face away from men with pride]; Imaam as-Sa’di (rahimahullaah): Do not turn away and frowning at the people with your face, being arrogant towards them and exalting (yourself).

[ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا ۖ –Nor walk in insolence through the earth]; That is: out of vanity, boasting about blessings, forgetful of the one who bestowed it upon you (i.e. Allaah) and being amazed with yourself.

[إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ- Verily, Allah likes not each arrogant boaster]; boastful about himself, his personality and significance, and in his speech.

The State of Affairs of This Person Will Not Cease To Amaze You!

Allaah (The Most High) said:

أَرَأَيْتَ مَنِ اتَّخَذَ إِلَٰهَهُ هَوَاهُ

Have you (O Muhammad) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire?

[Soorah Al-Furqaan: Ayah: 43]

Imaam as-Saa’di (rahimahullaah) said: Are you not amazed by his (i.e. this person’s) state of affairs and you are looking at the misguidance he is upon, whilst he judges for himself that he is upon lofty stations? [1] Imaam Ibn Katheer (rahimahullaah) said: And whenever something is desirable and he sees it as (something) good according to his own desires, it becomes his religion (or creed, judgement, way of life and school of thought). [2]

People Sought advice, So Jundub (radiyallaahu-anhu) adviced them about two affairs (to eat what is Lawful and Refrain from Shedding Blood)

The people said to Jundub (radiyallaahu-anhu), ”Advise us.” He said: ”The first thing of the human body to putrefy is the abdomen, so he who can eat nothing but good food (halaal and earned lawfully) should do so, and he who does as much as he can that nothing intervenes between him and paradise by not shedding even a handful of blood (i.e. murdering), should do so.”

An Admonition by Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) Concerning the behaviour of many people towards the worldly things

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Muhammad Ibn Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen (rahimahullaah) said:

Indeed, whenever the people increase in opulence and whenever it is made accessible to them, evil gains access to them.  When a person fixes his sight on opulence and becomes engrossed in bodily pleasures, he becomes heedless of softening his heart (i.e. with remembrance of Allaah, remembrance of death, performance of good deeds, repentance, remembrance of the aakhirah etc) and his greatest concern becomes (indulging) this body in opulence–(a body) whose final state will be worms and rot.

This is the calamity and what harms people these days. You do not find anyone (i.e. many people) except that he says: What have we missed (i.e. of the worldly things)?” ”What is our car? (i.e. what car do you have?) And what is our furniture? (i.e. what furniture do you have?) -to the extent that some of those who seek knowledge (of the religion) only do so for the purpose of reaching a (particular) level or grade in order to attain the enjoyment of the worldly things. It is as if the human being is not created for a great purpose.  The enjoyable things of the worldly life are only a means (i.e. a means to fulfilling ones needs and not the purpose of this life). Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

It is befitting that a person utilises wealth in the manner he utilises his donkey for riding, and in the manner he utilises the toilet for defecation.

Do not make wealth your greatest concern; rather you should be the one riding on wealth. That is because if you do not ride it (i.e. the one in control and not the one controlled by it), it will ride on you and the worldly life will become your concern.  So for this reason, we say: Whenever the worldly things are opened up to the people and they start looking at it (i.e. with much concern), then indeed they lose the afterlife in accordance with their interest in the worldly life.  The Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

By Allaah! It is not poverty that I fear for you; rather what I fear is that the worldly things will be made accessible to you, so that you compete one another for it, just as those before you competed one another for it, and it destroys you, just as it destroyed them.”

The Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) spoke the truth because what has destroyed the people at present is competition for the worldly things as if they were created for that purpose, and as if it was created for them for that purpose.

Two determinants of corruption and devastation in this world

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:

Everyone with a grasp of common sense knows that the corruption and devastation of the world occurs due to giving precedence to opinion over (Allaah’s) revelation and desires over sound (uncorrupted) intellect.  These two corrupt (affairs) do not get hold of the heart except that its destruction is established….

[A’laam Muwaqqi-een 1/67]

One of Fir’awn’s Many Evils – [He called to evil and debated as one upon truth]

Allaah (The Most High) said: [وَڪَذَٲلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرۡعَوۡنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِ -Thus it was made fair-seeming, in Fir’aun’s (Pharaoh) eyes, the evil of his deeds]

Evil deeds were made fair seeming to him, so shaytaan did not cease to make it fair seeming to him, whilst he called to it and beautified it, until he saw it as something good.  He called to it and debated (in a manner) like those upon truth, whilst he was from the greatest of the corrupters.

[وَصُدَّ عَنِ ٱلسَّبِيلِۚ  -And he was hindered from the path] of truth, due to the falsehood that was made fair seeming to him. [وَمَا ڪَيۡدُ فِرۡعَوۡنَ – And the plot of Fir’aun (Pharaoh)]–the one who  wanted to plot against the truth and give a false impression to the people that he was the one upon truth, and that Moosaa was upon falsehood—[ إِلَّا فِى تَبَابٍ – led to nothing but loss]; That is: (complete) loss and waste.  It benefited him in nothing except wretchedness in this world and in the Hereafter.

Summarized Benefits from Shaikh Saaleh Al-Fawzaan’s Clarification Regarding the Plots of Saudi’s Enemies [The Land of Tawheed]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

O slaves of Allaah! Be grateful for the blessings of Islaam. You (all) know—may Allaah protect you—that this country is established upon the creed of pure Islamic monotheism, sincerity in worshipping Allaah alone, enjoining good, forbidding evil, ruling by the share-ah and establishment of the prescribed punishments ordained by Allaah; so its state of security remains and stability continues, and it lives—as you know-in blessing, comfort, security and stability, whereas the other countries are in trials and confusion.

This country-and all praise be to Allaah—is in a state of security, stability, comfortable living and tranquillity, except that this stability is not pleasing to the enemies of this country. So they have not ceased in attempting to demolish its state of security. They attempt to do this, so that it becomes like other countries.

It (i.e. Saudi Arabia) occupies the center of the hearts of the Muslims. It is the Qiblah in their Salaah and it has a status in the Islamic world. So if it were to be destabilized—just as the enemies desire to destabilize the entire Islamic world—then who will establish the Hajj and Umrah; who will provide safety for the pilgrims whilst they seek to fulfill the rites of Hajj and Umrah, except this country with the Help of Allaah (Glorified and Exalted Be He).

The (social) structure of this country will be destabilized if its security is lost; then where will the Islamic world proceed to? And because of this the enemies of Islaam plot against this country day and night,–as you all know—sometimes through seeking to cause doubts about the creed and disseminating filthy views amongst the children of the Muslims in order to implant idleness, extremism, or taking up arms, or carrying explosives, or causing destruction; sometimes by way of corrupting the manners, disseminating forbidden affairs and forbidden desires amongst the Muslim youth, in order to corrupt their manners and deprive them of their religion with the claim of freedom of expression and other false statements.

What is freedom of expression? The freedom to express evil! Freedom of expression has to be within the confines of Islam, for indeed Allaah has freed mankind through Islaam. Allaah has freed mankind from idol worship, forbidden desires and despicable manners. This is the correct freedom; but as for what is in opposition to it of lowly desires, doubts and corrupt manners, this is the freedom of animals.

However, they want this in order to corrupt the Muslim youth—either through extremism and harshness or through laxity in their religion. They attempt this and that—either to corrupt the intellects of the Muslim youth with intoxicants, drugs, cigarettes, Qaat and other drugs and intoxicants or through fabrications (i.e. ideas, views etc). They want to do away with the Muslim youth because after Allaah’s (Glorified Be He) Support for the Muslim society, the society is built upon its youth- so they want to corrupt the Muslim youth through any means so that they are able to demolish this country. As you can see –from time to time–huge quantities of opium and other types of drugs are smuggled. As you can see this did not come from nothing; rather it came about as a bad plan against this country. They want to destroy it from every direction. Therefore, you should all be a singular hand with your rulers and those charged of your affairs in repelling this enmity and to be attentive of it…..

Those Who Seek Knowledge Due to Its nobility and The Perfection Reached by Way of it! – By Shaikh Siddeeq Hasan Khan (rahimahullaah)

Shaikh Siddeeq Hasan Khan (rahimahullaah) stated:

The aim behind the religious sciences is not to earn (wealth); rather it is for (the purpose of) acquainting oneself with the realities of the (Islamic legislation) and to rectify one’s behaviour (towards his Lord and the people). The one who learns knowledge (of the religion) for the purpose of trade cannot be a scholar; rather he only resembles the scholars. The scholars unveiled what the drive behind this was and they spoke about it when the building of schools reached them at Baghdaad, so they held gatherings of knowledge and said: “The possessors of lofty ambitions and the pure souls used to pre-occupy themselves with it (i.e. knowledge) –those whose intention behind (seeking) knowledge was due to its nobility and the perfection (that is reached by way of it), so they came to the scholars to benefit from them and their knowledge. However, when (monetary gain) is placed on it, the vilest people and the lazy ones will approach it and thus leading to its disappearance. So at this point, the (Islamic) sciences of wisdom (found in the Qur’aan, the Sunnah and the understanding of the Salaf) will be abandoned even though they are self-evident in their nobility.  [أبجد العلوم pages 77-78… Vol: 1]
