A man came to Bishr Ibn Al-Haarith (rahimahullaah) and kissed (his forehead), saying: O Abu Nasr my master! So when the man left, Bishr said to his companions: “A man loves another man based on news he presumes to (be true). And it may be that the one who has that love will be saved and the one who is loved does not know what his state of affairs will be.”
Whenever Dahhaak Bin Muzaahim (rahimahullaah) reached the night, he used to weep; so he was asked, ”what makes you weep.” He said: ”I do not know which of my deeds have been raised today (i.e. accepted by Allaah)”
What is your wealth? He said: I have two (sources) of wealth by way of which I cannot fear poverty: Reliance upon Allaah and not being desperate for what people possess. It was said to him: ”Do you not fear poverty?” He said: ”Should I fear poverty when my Protector (Allaah) owns what is in the heavens and on the earth, and all that is under the earth!”
Anas Ibn Maalik (radiyallaahu-anahu) narrated that the Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said: ”Shyness (1) does not reside in anything except that it beautifies it. And obscenity does not reside in anything except that it uglifies it.” (2)

Remember this whenever you are amazed with the little you know!

And whenever he wrote a letter and feared amazement by way of it; he would tear it. And he would say: ”O Allaah! I seek refuge with you from the evil of my soul.”
