If my morning is like that of the foolish person and my night is like that of the ignorant person, then what did I do with the knowledge I wrote down?!
The sensible person is not one who knows (what) is good and evil, but the sensible person is one who knows (what) is good and follows it, and he knows (what) is evil and avoids it.
Indeed the people only take their scholars and the righteous worshipers as examples to follow; so if the scholars are wicked and the worshipers are ignorant, then calamity will be widespread and trials will become great upon individuals and the general people.
”And hold fast to Allah; He is your Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.), what an Excellent Maula (Patron, Lord, etc.) and what an Excellent Helper!” [1]
Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:
When you hold fast to Allaah, Allaah will protect you. Allaah will help you against (the evil urges) of your souls and shaytaan. These are two enemies that do not separate themselves from a slave (of Allaah). Their enmity is more harmful than an outside enemy. Therefore being given help against them is the most important thing and a slave (of Allaah) is more in need of this (than other things). And the completeness of this help (against the urge of the evil self and shaytaan is obtained) in accordance with one’s (level) of attachment to Allaah. [2]
Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:
”The initial affair with regards to the misguidance of the misguided one is that he gave precedence to his juristic reasoning over the texts from Allaah and precedence to his desires over following the commands of Allaah.”
”The people upon the correct understanding of the religion and those who cling to the (authentic) narrations of the [Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and that of the pious predecessors] in all the regions are agreed that the people of philosophical rhetoric are people of bidah and deviation. (All the scholars) do not consider them to be from those who have been given sound understanding in the religion; rather the scholars are those who hold onto the (authentic) narrations of the [Prophet (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) and that of the pious predecessors] and they have been given sound understanding in that.”
