Beware of preoccupying yourselves with the difficulties of life—Al’Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi

Al-Allaamah Muqbil Bin Haadi (rahimahullaah) said:

”What I advise myself and everyone is preoccupation with knowledge. The worries of the worldly life do not have an end, so beware of pre-occupying yourselves with the difficulties of life, for had we pre-occupied ourselves with them, we would not have been able to seek knowledge.

Those who either agree with both truth and falsehood or conceal the truth

Whilst discussing the affair of those who exceed the limits in Takfeer, Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

”And on the other side of those who make Takfeer based on falsehood are a people who do not know the creed of Ahlus Sunnah Wal-Jamaa’ah as it is obligated; or they know some of it and are ignorant of some of it.  They conceal what they know of it and do not clarify it for the people. They neither forbid innovations (which is) what is in opposition to the Book and the Sunnah nor do they censure Ahlul Bidah and punish them; rather perhaps they would censure a statement in the Sunnah and a fundamental of the religion completely and would not differentiate between what Ahlus Sunnah Wal Jamaa’ah say and what Ahlul Bidah Wal Furqah (The people of innovation and splitting) say; or they would affirm all their differing ways, just as the scholars would affirm the different opinions in places where Ijtihaad is permitted (i.e. due to ignorance or deliberately hiding the truth, they would affirm the correct path of Ahlus Sunnah and the corrupt path of ahlul bidah, in seeking to falsely imitate the scholars of Ahlus Sunnah when they affirm the different opinions in issues of permissible Ijtihaad).

This path has overwhelmed many of the Murji’ah, some of the jurists, those pursuing the path of asceticism and the philosophers, just as it has overwhelmed first and foremost many amongst the people of desires and rhetoric.  And both these paths (i.e. the path traversed by those who do not clarify the haqq and those who seek to condone all the divergent paths of deviation) are deviated paths outside the Book and the Sunnah. Rather what is obligatory is to clarify that which Allaah sent His Messengers with and (revealed) in His Books–propagating that which the Messengers brought from Allaah and fulfil the covenant which Allaah took from the scholars.

Therefore, it is obligatory to know that which the Messengers brought–having belief in it, propagating it, calling to it and striving with it; and to weigh up all that which the people embark upon [statements, actions, religious fundamentals and subsidiary issues pertaining to the apparent actions of the Limbs and affairs related to actions of the heart]- under the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger; neither following desires (through) customs, a school of law, a religious order, a leader or a predecessor; nor following conjecture through a weak hadeeth or corrupt Qiyaas–regardless whether it a qiyaas that offers some degree of certainty or not–; or blindly following someone about whom it is not obligated to follow his statement and action; for indeed Allaah—in His Book—(i.e. the Qur’aan) has censured those who follow conjecture and that which their souls desire, whilst they abandon following that which came to them from their Lord of Guidance. Reminders from Imaam Ibnul Qayyim and Al-Allaamah Al’Mu-allimee

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim (rahimahullaah) stated in Al’Fawaa-id [page 78]:

The slave does not embark upon what he has been forbidden except through two ways; Firstly: (Either) harbouring evil thoughts about his Lord that if he were to obey Allaah and preferred Him, He (Glorified Be He) will not grant him that which is better from the lawful (things).  Secondly: (Or) his acknowledgement that (Allaah will grant him something better than the forbidden thing he pursues) and that whoever leaves something for Allaah’s sake, He (Glorified Be He) will replace it with something better; but lusts overcomes his patience and desires (overcomes) his intellect. The first affair is due to weakness in knowledge and the second a weakness in intellect and insight.

Al-Allaamah Abdur-Rahmaan Ibn Yahyah Al’Mu-allimee (rahimahullaah) stated in Vol 2. Page.179 with the checking of Imaam Albaanee (rahimahullaah): ”The human being does not hate truth as a result of considering it to be falsehood; but he loves truth by way of his Fitra (natural inclination). And he loves falsehood due to his desires and lusts. The shift towards success or loss defends on what he gives preference to.”

Allaah (The Blessed and Exalted) said:

”Then, for him who Tagha (transgressed) and preferred the life of this world (by following his evil desires and lusts), Verily, his abode will be Hell-fire; But as for him who feared standing before his Lord, and restrained himself from impure evil desires, and lusts. Verily, Paradise will be his abode.” [An-Naazi’aat. Ayah:37-41]

And you can say: Allaah (The Blessed and Exalted) is on one side and (a person’s evil) desires are on another side (in opposition to what Allaah has commanded and prohibited).  Allaah (The Most High) said:

”Have you (O Muhammad) seen him who has taken as his ilah (god) his own desire? Would you then be a Wakil (a disposer of his affairs or a watcher) over him? Or do you think that most of them hear or understand? They are only like cattle; nay, they are even farther astray from the Path. (i.e. even worst than cattle).” [Soorah Al-Furqaan. Aayaat 43-44]

And Allaah (The Most High) said:

”Have you seen him who takes his own lust (vain desires) as his ilah (god), and Allah knowing (him as such), left him astray, and sealed his hearing and his heart, and put a cover on his sight. Who then will guide him after Allah? Will you not then remember?” [Soorah Al-Jaathiyah. Ayah 23]

A Precise Rebuttal of the Vile Haddaadiyyah [Ghulaat-Extremists]—Those who attack Imaam Abu Haneefah (rahimahullaah)

Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullaah) said:

مَنْ ظَنَّ بِأبِي حَنِيفة أو غيره من أئمة المسلمين أنهم يتعمَّدون مخالفة حديث رسول الله ـــصلى الله عليه وسلم ـــ الصحيح بقياس أو لغيره فقد أخطأ عليهم ويتكلم إما بِظنٍّ أو هوى

”Whoever think that Abu Haneefah or other than him from the Imaams of the Muslims deliberately opposed an authentic Hadeeth of the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) through Qiyaas or other than it, then indeed he (i.e. such a person) has spoken erroneously about them, and he has either spoken with speculation or desires.” [Quoted by Shaikh Muhammad Bin Haadi (may Allaah preserve him) in his explanation of Raf-ul Malaam. Audio Number 1: http://ar.miraath.net/book/8104]

Why is that the case? That is because these Imaams are all agreed (with certainty) that the Messenger (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) has to be followed.
