Among The Means To Tasting The Sweetness of Imaan | Benefits from Shaykh ‘Ubayd al – Jaabiree and Imaam Ibn-ul Qayyim

Among The Means To Tasting The Sweetness of Imaan

Abbaas Bin Abdul Muttalib [radiyallaahu-anhu] said that he heard Allaah’s Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] saying:

ذَاقَ طَعْمَ الإيمَانِ مَنْ رَضِيَ بِالله رَبّا وَ باْلإِسْلاَمِ دِيناً و بِمُحَمّدٍ رسولا

“The one who pleased that Allah is his lord and Islam is his religion and  Muhammad is his messenger shall taste the sweetness of Imaan.”

The meaning of the Hadeeth is that he [or she] only seeks the [pleasure of] Allaah-The Most High [1].

He [or she] does not follow other than the path of Islaam and does not follow except that which is in agreement with Muhammad’s [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] Sharee’ah. [2]

There is no doubt that the sweetness of Eemaan becomes pure in the heart of one with these qualities and indeed he [or she] has [definitely] tasted its sweetness.[3]

A Short Faa’idah Regarding Sawm and Rectification of The Heart- By Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah]

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said:

Righteousness of the heart and its steadfastness upon the path leading to Allaah’s [good pleasure etc] depends on its complete devotion to Allaah [The Most High]. The heart will not be put in order except by turning completely to Allaah [in obedience, submission etc]; but excess food and drink, excess intermingling with the people and excess speech and sleep are among [those things] that increase the heart in decay, distracts it in every way and severs it from its path of [obedience] to Allaah [The Most High] – either weakening or hindering it, or stopping it [from this goal]. Therefore, Allaah’s Mercy necessitates that fasting is legislated for the [believing] servants in order to [divert them] from excess food and drink, and rid the heart of the intrusions of desires, which hinders it from its path [of obedience] to Allaah. Allaah legislated [fasting] in accordance with what is of benefit for the servant, so that the servant is benefited in his worldly life and afterlife – neither hindering him from what will bring about well-being for him in this life nor in the afterlife.

“You Alone We Worship And You Alone We Ask For Help” | Imaam ibn-ul Qayyim (Rahimahullah)

Imaam Ibnul Qayyim [rahimahullaah] said: “

I used to hear Shaikhul Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah [rahimahullaah)] often saying:

[إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ] – “You alone we worship” repels Riyaa

[ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ] – “And you alone we ask for help” repels Pride.”

The Severity Of Not Nurturing Your Children Upon Piety! | Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen (Rahimahullah)

Imaam Muhammad bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [May Allah have mercy on him] said:
“Whoever does not fulfill the obligations which Allaah [The Mighty and Majestic] has obligated on him with regards to nurturing his children [upon piety etc], then it might occur later on that they will not fulfill the obligations which Allaah has obligated on them to fulfill towards him [i.e. the father] when he reaches old age and [when] he dies. “

Rush Towards Understanding The Meaning Of The Noble Qur’aan O Student Of Knowledge! | Shaykh Muhammad bin Saaleh al-‘Uthaymeen (Rahimahullah)

Imaam Muhammad bin Saaleh Al-Uthaymeen [May Allah have mercy on him] said:
“I encourage my brothers, especially the students of knowledge, to be eager to understand the meaning of the noble Qur’aan, because indeed the noble Qur’aan was revealed [as a guide for the people in their acts of ] worship – by reciting it and contemplating on its meaning.

Allaah [The Most High] said:
“[This is] a blessed book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.””

When Are Deeds Likened To Skins Without Flesh And Body Without Souls? | al-‘Allamah Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa’di (Rahimahullah)

When Are Deeds Likened To Skins Without Flesh And Body Without Souls?
al-‘Allamah Abdur-Rahmaan ibn Naasir as-Sa’di (Rahimahullah)

Allaah [The Most High] said:

لَن يَنَالَ اللَّهَ لُحُومُهَا وَلَا دِمَاؤُهَا وَلَٰكِن يَنَالُهُ التَّقْوَىٰ مِنكُمْ ۚ كَذَٰلِكَ سَخَّرَهَا لَكُمْ لِتُكَبِّرُوا اللَّهَ عَلَىٰ مَا هَدَاكُمْ ۗ وَبَشِّرِ الْمُحْسِنِينَ

It is neither their meat nor their blood [i.e. the animals we sacrifice] that reaches Allah, but it is piety from you that reaches Him. Thus have We made them subject to you that you may magnify Allah for His Guidance to you. And give glad tidings (O Muhammad) to the Muhsinun (doers of good). [Surah Al-Hajj. Ayah 37]

“It is neither their meat nor their blood”- meaning: The aim [or goal] behind them [i.e. the animals slaughtered as sacrifice] is not just to merely slaughter them, for neither does their meat nor blood reach Allaah because Allaah is [الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ -The Independent One Who is Free of all Needs and The One Who is Deservedly Praised (Ref A)]; rather what reaches Allaah is the sincerity [in your hearts in relation to the performance of the deed]; hope for Allaah’s reward and having a righteous intention.

“But it is piety from you that reaches Him”.

So with regards to this, there is an urge towards sincerity in [the act] of sacrifice and that one’s intention is to seek the Face of Allaah [alone], and not out of boasting, show off and to be heard; nor merely following a custom. Likewise, this is [the goal behind] all acts of worship, for if they are not connected to sincerity and piety, then they are similar to skins that have no flesh and a body that has no soul.

Protection From The Hellfire, Blessed Life In The Dunya And A Life Of Light In The Grave – Al ‘Allamah Zaid ibn Haadee al-Madkhali (Rahimahullah)

Al-Allaamah Zaid Ibn Muhammad Al-Madhkali [May Allah have mercy on him] said:

“Preserve the prayer if you love yourself and want to be safe from the hellfire, which neither
spares [any sinner], nor does it leave [anything unburnt]!

And seek- [by way of the prayer]- a blessed life in the dunya; a life of light in the grave, and a life of bliss and eternity in paradise in presence of the Generous Lord [Allaah].”

What Do We Utilise When Dealing With The Innovations? – Al-‘Allamah Shaikh Rabee ibn Haadee al-Madkhali (Hafithahullah)

Al-Allaamah Rabi’ Bin Hadee Al-Madhkali [May Allah preserve him] said :

“If we are to devote ourselves in confronting the difficult affairs, such as the bid’ah [innovations brought into the religion] and other than them, then it is obligated on us to adhere to that which the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and his rightly guided Caliphs were upon. We distinguish -by way of that- between guidance and misguidance, [between] truth and falsehood, and [between] Sunnah and bidah.

What is a Person Commanded To Do When Bidah Appears? – By Imaam Ibn Rajab [rahimahullaah]

The Messenger of Allaah (sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam) said:

”Indeed, the one who lives long amongst you will see a lot of differences, and beware of newly invented matters [in the religion] because it is misguidance. So whoever amongst you reaches that, then upon him to hold onto to my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly guided khulafaa, and bite onto it with the molar teeth.” [Reported by Ahmad: 4/126; Abu Daawud 4607; Tirmidhee 2676; Ibn Maajah 43]

Imaam Ibn Ibn Rajab [rahimahullaah] said: In this hadeeth is [the] command that when splitting and differing occurs, [one should] adhere to the Sunnah of the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] and the Sunnah of the khulafaa [radiyallaah-anhum] after him. The Sunnah is a path that should be adhered to and it includes that which the rightly guided khulafaa were upon in creed, actions and statements. This is the complete Sunnah.
